Meet Filjun Urbano, an Audit Manager in the Audit Department at IDO. With over a decade of experience, Filjun has progressed from a Senior Associate to a managerial role, overseeing audit projects that contribute to the growth and maturity of IDO’s portfolio.
In a chat, Filjun shares his experiences, challenges, and insights into the rigorous and rewarding world of auditing at IDO.
Can you briefly describe your role at IDO and your journey within the company?
In my role in the IDO Audit Department, I have had the privilege of being part of and also guiding a team of auditors through numerous successful audit projects since November 2013. Over the past 11 years, my career has progressed from Senior Associate to Assistant Manager, and to Manager – a journey that has been both enriching and rewarding. This April 2024 marked a significant milestone as I stepped into the managerial role, reflecting the trust and confidence IDO places in its employees’ growth and leadership potential.

How has your experience at IDO been so far?
My experience as an auditor at IDO has been a remarkable adventure, filled with challenges that have tested and honed my skills. At IDO, I have the opportunity to manage diverse audit projects, each presenting unique scenarios that require tailored process improvement recommendations. The most fulfilling aspect has been witnessing and contributing to the significant growth and maturity of IDO and its portfolio. Observing the tangible improvements in the processes and internal controls across our portfolio has been deeply enriching.
What attracted you to IDO, and what has kept you here?
My journey with IDO has been a transformative experience, beginning as an external auditor in Dubai and leading to my current role as Manager. What drew me to IDO was the opportunity to be part of a pioneering team to set up the Internal Audit Department. What kept me here and the driving forces behind my dedication is the sense of belonging and the ability to contribute meaningfully to the success of IDO, its portfolio, and Ras al Khaimah in general.
